What does our off-season look like?
Building waterfront driving ranges is a seasonal business. Since we currently operate in Maryland and Virginia, our season lasts between April and October.
Much like a professional sports team, our off-season is spent preparing for the upcoming season. Specifically, our time is focused on three different areas: 1.) Updating our floating targets; 2.) Creating new event programming; 3.) Scouting new waterfront locations
1. Updating our floating targets
During our first year building waterfront driving ranges, our floating target was made of wood and inner tubes. Last off-season, we spent a lot of time creating a more technologically advanced floating target. This off-season our tech guy Jamie Hodges is working hard to fix all the issues we encountered in 2018. This is an important focus for us as we have more than one target this year.
2. Creating new event programming
We are constantly brainstorming new ideas for events. One of these initiatives is the Splash City Golf League, where we are working hard to drive recruitment and sponsors. Another of our event programming initiatives is to work with other brands to create unique activation events. We’ll have some announcements coming out soon about these events.
3. Scouting new waterfront locations
We are constantly on the lookout for great waterfront venues to host our driving ranges. We spend a lot of time in the off-season scouting for the perfect venues and bringing them into the Splash family. Waters Edge Event Center in Belcamp, MD is one of the latest waterfront venues to offer Splash City Golf’s waterfront driving ranges for their clients.
